My name is John L Montgomery III, a Professional Golfer who is proud to claim Alabama State as his Alma Mater. I am currently pursuing my dream of making it to the PGA Tour. I am competing in mini tour events now to gain the experience and knowledge I need to compete on the PGA tour.

- June 1st of 2012 was my debut was as a professional golfer. But one does not simply just turn professional and start playing in tournaments for big money. There was a long road of trails and tribulations in order to have the opportunity to chase my dream. The biggest issue was financial constraints. On average, a 3 day mini tour event cost about $800 just to enter. I didn't have that kind of money and neither did my parents. I wasn't going to let money stop me from doing what I want to do, so I organized a fundraiser golf tournament to help me get started. A lot of the guys and girls I know had their parents support them in following their dream of playing professional golf, and they still do. I didn't have that luxury. The tournament was a success. I had about 30 people play in the tournament and fundraised around $4,000 to help kick start my career. After a year of playing on mini tours all over south east America, I found my self stationed in Orlando, FL. Currently I am working at Florida's number 1 public course and the nations largest driving range (Orange County national golf center and lodge.) This job is my financial base. It pays my bills and keeps food on the table, but more importantly I have the opportunity to practice and play golf for free everyday. After 2 years, I am still going strong and only seeing improvement. My golf game is the best it's ever been right now and I would love to get back out on the mini tours and compete so that I can work my way up into the PGA tour.
